  • Winchester Science Centre

Fri 17 Jun 2016 Miss Wright

Today, Year 3/4 had a fantastic trip to Winchester Science Centre.

There were over 100, hands-on, science exhibits for us to explore and learn about. Some of these included the Colon Café (where we went on a journey of discovery through the enormous colon), Move It (a machine showing the principles of motion and gravity) and the Sport Zone.

We were also lucky enough to watch a show in the Planetarium Cinema called Neighbourhood Earth. It was a live, introduction to astronomy and we learned about the Earth, Sun, Moon and stars.

Have a look at some of our photos to see what we got up to!

  • EYFS Dad's Afternoon

Fri 17 Jun 2016 Miss Khan
As an early Father's Day present Holly and Maple Classes invited their dad's to come to school and play for the afternoon.  We had a fantastic turnout and all the children were excited to show their dad all around our unit.  Throughout  the afternoon there were different activities for everyone to complete.  These included a paper aeroplane competition, a picture hunt in the woods, building newspaper towers (the tallest one reached the ceiling!), making a wooden photo frame, sharing stories, games and puzzles together and writing about what they love about each other.   It was a very busy afternoon and everyone seemed to have had lots of fun.  A big thank you to all of the dads for taking the time to come and join us.
  • The beach came to Basingstoke

Fri 17 Jun 2016 Mrs Barnhouse
Yesterday Year 2 enjoyed a beach themed day as part of their topic 'Wish You Were Here'. The day was packed with beach activities from the past to present day. Children were put into groups and had to work as teams to complete a variety of activities. These included a sandcastle challenge, watercolour painting postcards, Punch and Judy shows and investigating the seaside in the past. Children loved the Punch and Judy characters and in the afternoon they had to create their own Punch and Judy show for others to watch. We were even lucky with the weather and it stayed dry all day. Perfect for enjoying a day at the beach! Have a look at the photos below to find out more.
  • Rotary Club trip to Marwell Zoo

Wed 08 Jun 2016 Miss Lyddon
A big thank you to Basingstoke Rotary Club for supporting 6 of our VI (Visually Impaired) children with a day out to Marwell Zoo.  Even though it was a very hot sticky day, a great day was had by all. Please look at our photographs below to see what we got up to and the animals, reptiles and birds we saw.
  • Non Uniform Day with Fancy Shoes

Mon 06 Jun 2016 Miss Rogers

    Dear Parents

Further to my email before half term, I would like to remind you about our non-uniform day with the added dimension of "Fancy Shoes" this Friday 10 June.

Theme: 'Fancy shoes to promote walking to school'. The children are invited to either decorate an existing pair of 'sensible home' shoes with their parents' permission or they can make temporary alterations to their school shoes. Please note that the children are not allowed to wear heels or open toed shoes because of health and safety reasons. Some children have talked about doing a design on card and fixing this to the top of their shoes - this I think is a good idea.

The £1 donation per child for this will go towards our amazing outdoor project.

    Happy creating everyone!

    Miss Rogers
