  • Early Years - Our Dads' Afternoon

Fri 16 Jun 2017 Miss Lemar

On Friday 16th June Early Years had a Dads' Afternoon to celebrate Fathers' Day.  We invited all of our dads to come and join us in school for the whole afternoon.  During the afternoon there were several activities we could choose from including a picture hunt in the woods, making a photo frame (thankfully there were no injuries), Frisbee making, playing on the woodland trail, portrait drawing, sharing stories and making newspaper towers - this very quickly became competitive among the grown ups! We all had lots of fun and loved having our dads in school.

  • Some more stunning photos from our Art Festival Week

Thu 15 Jun 2017 Ms Rogers

Mrs Holt, our new super photographer really has captured some lovely moments from our Art Festival Week held last half term. All now edited.... Enjoy!

Thank you Laura, we really appreciate you doing this for us.

  • Year 6 Costello Trip

Thu 15 Jun 2017 Mrs Osborne
Yesterday afternoon, the children who will be attending Costello in September took part in a transition afternoon at the school. It was really lovely to see how settled all of the children looked - the visit definitely helped to answer any of their questions and worries about starting a brand new school in September. It was also great to see some of our previous Great Binfields pupils who are now in year 7 and acted as fantastic ambassadors for Costello!
  • Totally Tennis was totally great!

Wed 14 Jun 2017 Mrs Barnhouse

On Tuesday this week every class had the opportunity to have a tennis taster session led by Totally Tennis. The children really enjoyed the half hour sessions where they learnt new skills. Every child received a certificate for taking part and a leaflet inviting them to some more free sessions this Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with the Tennis Foundation Roadshow. Why not pop along and learn something new in a fun, friendly way! (If only I was a bit younger I know I would certainly be interested!)

For more information have a look at their website:  http://www.totallytennis.co.uk/news-and-dates.

Here's just a quick snapshot of what the children got up to.

  • Music Makers with some of our new EYFS Children who start in September

Tue 13 Jun 2017 Miss Rogers
Today Mrs Irons, our Music Lead Teacher in school, led a smashing music session for a group of children who will be starting with us in September. The children started off very shy but they soon participated really well. Lots of singing as well as composition using a range of exciting instruments. I hope the children are looking forward to their next session which is going to be held on Tuesday.
  • Year 6 Think Safe Trip

Mon 12 Jun 2017 Mrs Osborne
This morning, Year 6 enjoyed a trip to Bramley Training Area to take part in a variety of activities linked to keeping safe. These involved: Fire safety, stranger danger, road safety and trading standards. A great morning was had by all!
  • Bikeability Day 3

Wed 07 Jun 2017 Miss Hunt
The Year 6 children were able to make the most of the dry weather today and ventured out onto the road to practise their road safety skills. Particular manoeuvres included making a U-turn in the road, how to make  a safe start and stop and cycling past a stationary car. The children were very well behaved in our local community and the instructors were really impressed. Having looked at the weather forecast for tomorrow, I think we may have another downpour so remember to wear your waterproofs and to wrap up warm!
  • Bikeability Day 2

Tue 06 Jun 2017 Mrs Osborne

Despite the horrendous weather, Year 6 still managed to get out on their bikes for their second day of Bikeability. Today's focus was cycling with control. This involved a 'slow race' where Kiera and Joe were crowned the champions. As well as this, the children particularly enjoyed playing a game called 'Minefield' where they had to ride through a large group of cones without hitting any of them. We are hoping for better weather for tomorrow's session!

  • Bikeability Day 1

Mon 05 Jun 2017 Mrs Osborne

Today the year 6 children completed their first day of Bikeability. They learned how to check their bike and clothing, complete a safe start and stop and also signal left and right. They are looking forward to going out on the roads tomorrow!

Lots of of children did not have coats with them today and got a bit wet. Please can you make sure they have a waterproof coat with them tomorrow as we will be going out whatever the weather!
