  • Year One Food Festival

Thu 08 Dec 2016 Miss Hanafin and Miss Finnimore

Today, Chestnut and Oak Class had a food festival! It incorporated some of the countries that we had been thinking about during our Festival topic and it also gave the children the chance to try lots of different foods. From France the children had french stick, brie and camembert. From Italy the children tried some Italian meats and some crisp bread. There was Chinese, Indian, Mexican and Spanish food to try. We were really impressed with how the children tried lots of new things and gave it all a go. The children also got to read some more of our topic books based around Festivals and Foods  - all whilst listening (and some dancing!) to music from around the world.

The festival was a great end to our Autumn topics. Have a look at the pictures to see what we got up to.

  • FOGB Christmas Fair News!

Thu 08 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers

Woo hoo! Our Friends of Great Binfields Christmas Fair raised a super amount. See the flyer below. .  Thank you to everyone who made this such a successful event - both to our parent helpers and the companies who donated such fantastic prizes.  The amount raised is amazing and makes the purchase of our minibus a realistic proposition for early 2017.

  • KS1 Christmas Performance Round 2

Wed 07 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers

The children were superb again today - I hope our audience were as proud as we were of all of them. We have some budding actors and singers in KS1 - we will nurture this as they progress through the school.

As promised here are so more photographs for you. What a bunch of cute children they are! Enjoy!

  • KS1 are 'Superstars'

Tue 06 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers

Wow what another superb performance - this time led by our fantastic Year 1 and Year 2 children.

I was blown away by the wonderful singing - some of the songs were sung in three parts too. The  brilliant acting was really impressive as there were so many lines to learn and you put huge amounts of expression into your voices too!!! Well done everyone - what an amazing effort.

I felt so many emotions throughout the play - I was very proud of you and I shed a happy tear or two as it is great seeing you all blossom and shine. You really have surpassed yourselves and reminded us of the real reason why Christians celebrate Christmas too - so a big thank you for that.

Thank you to all of the staff involved with organising such a huge event. Everyone in the Year 1 and 2 team work so hard with the children to make it as special as it can be. Your efforts do not go unappreciated.

Ok children you have one performance to go - so make sure it is as good as today's one. Parents and Grandparents who are coming to see it tomorrow, you are in for a real treat. It will leave you feeling incredibly happy and so proud of what the children have achieved.

I hope you enjoy the photos below and I will post some more tomorrow.

  • T'was the Night Before Christmas

Tue 06 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers

A group of our children from EYFS through to year 6 went to the theatre on Sunday morning to see a magical performance of T'was the Night Before Christmas. The children and adults loved it and it was just so lovely to sit and watch the children enjoy it so much. For some of the children, they hadn't been to a theatre before so it was a lovely new experience for them.

I would like to thank the staff (Thank you Miss Hanafin, Miss Lemar and Miss Finnimore) who gave up their Sunday morning to supervise the children..... and a special thank you to Miss Finnimore who organised the whole event. She even brought the children some treats to have whilst they watched the performance - that was a lovely touch.

It was such a success that we will be organising another theatre visit for 2017. Our staff team have already said that they will be willing to go too. So watch this space!

  • Thank You Balfour Beatty

Sat 03 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers

A huge thank you to our contractors Balfour Beatty for donating a beautiful Christmas tree for us to go in our school courtyard. It looks absolutely magical and we looked the part when we sang Christmas Carols by it on Friday evening before our Christmas Fair started.

A few of the site team came along to our Fair which was also hugely appreciated too. They spent lots to support our school minibus fund but some of the team were much luckier than others. Poor Jack dropped and broke one of his purchases where as Mrs Plumpton would have been happy with Mr Plumpton's winning Pimms!
